In this observational piece I studied a mechanical object that I didn’t know the function of so drawing it became a quest of assigning it meaning. This made me dwell on ideas on the nature of objects and what they represent out of their function. Do objects only exist within their practical use? Or does their raw material form occupying space also have meaning? Perhaps we can say that objects, especially mechanical ones are merely catalysts of action and without their functionality they exist only in a subspace far away from us. The steam in the composition takes this mechanical object out of the subspace and gives it action.
